Excellent camera controls
SUMMARY:
Good balance between controls/value display and viewing area.
MAIN FEATURES:
◾️ Slide to focus works very well.
◾️ White Balance control is excellent. There are no presets, but the slider has some of the standard symbols for color temperatures imbedded in it like sign-posts. Its a clever feature. Temperature and tint are clearly differentiated and easy to set. 18% grey calibration is set with a long-press. Great, get out your grey card!
◾️ Formats: JPEG quality, TIFF (uncompressed or LZW)
◾️ Tiltmeter: a clever leveling device.
OTHER FEATURES
◾️ An icon next to the shutter speed display handily reminds you when its time to use stabilization or a tripod.
◾️ The anti-shake shutter button next to the standard shutter button; you can decide on the fly which mode you want to shoot in (this can be swapped for the Timer option).
◾️ The + volume button on the iPhone can be used as a shutter button.
◾️ There are a number of grids, histograms and aspect ratios to choose from.
◾️ A decent users manual is included in Settings. It is worth reading to get the most from the app.
◾️ The app has a good degree of customizable features to tailor the app to your shooting style.
CONCLUSION:
ProCamera is an excellent app. For features and usability I would compare this to PureShot, by Michael Hardaker. These two apps are from alternate universes; PureShot (and 645 Pro, its big brother) emulate the physical appearance of the controls and display of a DSLR. ProCamera eschews this esthetic in favor of a minimalist interface that is still rich in features that are easily accessible.
